Doctors are hesitiant to do this on a person of your age, because they're concerned that you'll be sorry down the road.

The choice is strictly up to you. You may find it hard to have a doctor agree to do that to you at such a young age.
But please do a lot of research on the after effects of tubal ligation. You may trade off childbearing for having the worst periods you could ever imagine. If you have problems with PMS, they can possibly intensify, and if you have heavy periods now, be prepared for even heavier bleeding with clotting and severe cramps. I am not trying to discourage you from making that choice, but just be very informed about your decision and be sure you are prepared for the after effects. Had I known what would happen after my tubes were tied, I would have NEVER done it. I am sure everyone has different experiences, but I know for myself and other women I know who have done it, the suffering afterwards was unreal. I wish you the best of luck in whatever you choose to do.

I think at 23 you are too young to decide if you want to have kids or not. Why don't you get an IUD? They provide long term birth control. There is one the Mirena which is good for 5 years and the copper one which is good for 10 years.

I had mine tied when I was 30 . And the doctor kept asking me are you sure you want this done, you are not to old to have more children. You might have a problem with a Doctor doing this for you.But you should wait because you never know what might happen to change your mind.

Yes i have been tied,but some doctor prefer not to do it.
Be sure that is really what you want cause when its tied you can not have kids.And if you ask to have clip instead then later if you decide to have kids they will take out the clips.Good luck!

my boyfriends mom had her tubes tied when she was 22.... the doctors didnt recomend it, but she did it anyway, and now she is paying for it big time.... she's had so much trouble lately, that she had to recently go to the doctor and get scar tissue removed from that area... i would recomend doing it at such a young age

I have and its great. However, i was 36 and had two kids.At 23 years old with no kids, i dont think you'll find a dr who will do it for you. You are so young, and might change your mind.
