I don't think that the way John Lennon treated Julian is in any way inexcusable, but I'm sure a lot of it had to do with drugs, the pressures of being a star, and the fact that things didn't work out with Cynthia, Julian's mom. Unfortunately, kids are usually the victims in relationships that don't work out between their parents, and it's not like you ever get over your father being a real jerk to you like that. John Lennon did many hypocritical things in his life, but it helps to remind us that he was just human and doing the best that he could...and that doesn't mean he was good enough, at least not for all of us.
