If you want it, I say go for it. You can't let the horror stories scare you away...if you get it done at a good shop and take good care of it, the risk of infection is minimal... If you get it done and you don't like it, you can always take it out.

I got mine done 3 weeks ago and I love it.

Too some of the folks around here, you'll be marked stupid, but who cares...it's your body and there are just as many people out there that think there cool as there are people who are too close-minded. Piercing and tattoos are a form of personal expression...so if your person needs some expressing...more power to ya!

Tongue pierced - a thing of the past, not very attractive to say the least

It costs money, hurts, gives potential infections, and makes you less attractive. It's a totally stupid idea. That's why it's primarily adopted by stupid people. Did you ever see a smart scientist with a tongue piecing? Answer the same question for a 15 year old mother, living in a trailer.

If you have to ask on random strangers like those of us on Yahoo questions, it sounds to me like it's something you really don't want to do, otherwise you wouldn't have to ask. But since you are asking my opinion is that I think it looks trashy and really makes no sense to get one. I would just think of the pain when you accidentally bite your tongue while you're eating. I wouldn't cause myself that kind of pain on purpose. I would also be very worried that it would come apart at night while I was sleeping and I'd choke on it and die in my sleep. There are so many reasons not to do it, I can't think of one single reason why it would make sense to do it, sorry.

If you want, mine has been pierced for 3 years. It doesn't hurt if you take care of it. You just have to get used to it.

I just took mine out after 4 years. I loved it but it did start doing some damage to my teeth. It cuts down on your enamel. But if you are a corky girl and it fits your personality i think you should do it. It does hurts but only for a few day or so.

NO NO NO!!!!!!! It is really gross to everyone else that you come into contact with, really. I know you may think it is cool, but, really when others are talking to you and see it - we are REALLY thinking "how yukky!"
It also is very bad for the enamel on the backs of your teeth. The constant rubbing can ruin your teeth! I know a lady whos daughter had one and perm. ruined her teeth!
Wait - think about it for a while... buy a new outfit with the $$!

i am 25 and though about getting it done when i was 18...glad i never did. i know alot of people who got it done and they couldnt eat for a while afterwards. plus now they dont have it anymore cause they think it is dumb. dont waste your money. if you do get it done dont have them pierce it too close to the front of your mouth. GOOD LUCK!
