Very personal question. I used to be to be a PC person but then I fell in love. With a mac. I have a Macbook Pro and its absolutely amazing! Performance is superb! The secuirity is fantastic, no spending hundreds of dollars on spyware and virus protection. I have no trouble burning CDs of off iTunes, but I have never tried on any other program. Surfing goes along with performance, once again, superb! The only problem, is gaming. Mac gaming used to be perfect except for the fact that there wasnt a whole heck of a lot of games written for Mac. Now however, even though there are more games for Mac, they just recently switched over to Intel processors so everything has to run through Rosetta. I play Command and Conquer Generals alot on my computer and I can definetely notice a difference. It's slower, but not deathly. I recently got an extra 512 MB of RAM which really helped it. More and more games are being written for Mac, and more and more games are becoming Universal(meaning they can run on older PowerPC processors and Intel processors), I can almost promise you that in a year or less, every game will be written Universaly. If you look at the price of a Mac laptop you might think that $1100 dollars is a lot of money. It is al lot, but you dont need any virus protection for it which basically helps the price alot. Because you could just tell youself that it comes with the best virus protection money could buy. More and more people are buying Macs and soon they are going to be bigger than they are now. They're sleek, pretty and the performance is suberb! Save youself the trouble of fiddling with a PC when it has a virus and then you ahve to get it fixed for $150! Get a Mac! You should love it! P.S. Go to an Apple store and test drive a Mac.

Well, if you have the cash, you can get a Mac and run both operating systems (XP & OS X). But if you're going to use Parallels, games won't work and Boot Camp is a limited beta test; which will expire soon, so, it's not a permanent solution. On the contrary,Leopard (expected to come out maybe the second quarter next year) is expected to have Boot Camp built in so that you can run Windows as well without getting any third party software. Performance is quite good on all Macs currently, because they all use some of the newest chips and generally have good graphics cards. On the contrary, you can also get a really good Windows comptuer too of course. For security, it's the Mac, that is against viruses and spyware and adware, targetted attacks are just as dangerous. Burning, well, I'd say it's a tie. Gaming is Windows for sure. Surfing will we a tie as well. Less errors nominee will be the Mac. Macs are quite easy to get used to for a switcher.

one word: Mac
Macs are good for gaming (provided they even MAKE the game for Mac) I love the Mac, and I have had no problems with any of the ones I had. I didn't have to reformat my hard drive or reinstall the OS once, and I got my Mac in 2000. Of course, I got a new MacBook Pro, and so far it has been GREAT! But my old Mac still runs beautifully! The Mac is good for surfing the Internet, because there are almost no viruses for the Mac. There are some, but I have NEVER had a virus on my computer, and I don't even have Anti-virus software installed...go on virus makers, I dare you to test Mac OS X on MY computer...go ahead, make a virus for the Mac...if you can...hehehe

i grew up around macs, so for me, macs are better. you have no viruses, a clean, simple look, and great for surfing the internet. its also easier to navigate and NOT as sensitive. and they are coming out with a mac with a PC in it, so you can think about that. gaming isnt as good though, but there are some great games for macs out there, you just have to look a little harder. and macs have better security, too.

Well for gaming, pc is the best. And generally when you buy a mac people tend to call you "gay" Which I wholeheartedly agree with.

Windows based PCs would be your best bet for what you will be using it for. Macintosh makes great computers but are generally reserved for the graphic artist or the serious gamer...
