They don't tell people their breath stinks because they don't want to hurt his/her feelings.

Because we don't want to make them self-conscious. But if they're a close friend, it's fine to tell them. Better to embarrass them for a sec than to have everyone think they stink all day!

because i dont want to embarrass them. what if they are on a train with no gum, mints or tooth brush?? what are they going to do about it? if you told them they would just be self-conscious about it the whole time.
then again, they would rather know that their breath smells so they wont get in someone's face.
i just dont like telling the people, i feel bad.

people are way to scared to hurt someones feelings, if someone has bad breath try to offer gum or a mint. or just be honest and say whoa, you must have had garlic! and do it jokingly as to not hurt that persons feelings.

They really dont want to hurt their feelings. Its pretty rude. Then they would be all worried about it and they wouldn't feel comfortable for the rest of the day.

heck, i'm bold enough. i'm blunt and to the point. i do! perhaps they don't want to offend them. try politely offering gum. you could pull a stick out for yourself, and say, "oh, hey, do you want a piece?" i guess thats more polite. hope that helped
