I've always been a C or B student, then with adderall i feel like i can be a A+ student, i can read all the way through a book and not be bored, and i don't have to back to where i was reading when i don't digest what i just read. It's awesome, but i feel that it has many parallels to steroids in the sport realm. Is it even right to take it, or should i just make the grade myself. The person who prescribed it to me said it was a wonder how i got so far without being properly diagnosed. Under the effects of adderall, i can think clearly and make insightful observations. I was afraid that it would stifle creativity and make me a more technical and anal person, but it didn't. A drug like this sounds to good to be true. I do feel occasional mood swings. For the most part i can control them and not let them be exposed in my environment. I hear people can turn bi-polar under this drug; i believe i won't as long as i'm open-minded about everything. Is there any long-term detrimental effects?

Also is adderall illegal for sports? I know it is not OTC, but could it be an infraction if you test positive for amphetamines (i.e.- adderall) in a drug test?

You have a medical problem as a reason of taking adderall, so ethicswise there is nothing wrong with it. Bear in mind though that ADD is not something that gets 'cured,' but that gets treated and something that one lives with every day. Medication is typically safe and effective for you. However, there are things you can do to make your life easier that do not involve medication. Even if you are taking medication, simple things like learning basic organizational or social skills can be a big help. You can learn anything as long as you go about learning it in you own way.ADD is a style of brain organization that you're born with, grow up with, and die with, so don't let anyone judge you for the way you are. Many well-known talented people throughout history were/are ADD. Taking Adderal is not the cause of turning into bi-polar, it is how your mishandled personality changes which could probably turn you into one. With regards to long-term detrimental effects, remember it is a drug so it is very possible to have unexpected and unfavorable effects. I would like to emphasize that never increase your doses. Higher doses has no beneficial effects or any beneficial effect is likely to be compromised by the adverse effects, some of which can be very serious. With regards to the drug testing, definitely it will give a positive result for amphetamine. But you are taking it because you are in a condition requiring it so you have your specific legal rights against drug testing. Anyway try to learn alternatives not to depend on the medications. Believe in yourself, believe that the world is a better place because of you. Never be afraid to follow you dreams!

Any product that a person injests that is not natural, and contain many chemicals will have long-term detrimental effects. The effects may not show up for 20yrs, and by that time you will not be able to pin point it to any one particular thing. I do not think that being a C or B student is second best, just do your best without the drugs. If you have ADD I am sure that if you look at your diet, you will find a number of additives that are the underlying causes to this ailment. Stay away from the pharmaceutial chemicals, does it bother you that what doctors do is PRACTICE? I have a diploma in Colour Therapy and if you surround yourself or wear some bright yellow clothing your mind will become clearer and you will be able to concentrate better. All the very best.

Taking Adderall for ADD is not the same as an athlete taking steroids. Adderall is a prescribed treatment for a medical condition--and corrects a chemical imbalance.
Athletes taking steroids for performance enhancement is illegal when not prescribed by a doctor. It is not used to treat a disorders or correct a medical condition.
You wouldn't hesitate to take medicine to treat other medical conditions, for instance, Asthma, would you, even though it would certainly "enhance your performance".
I don't think people "turn bi-polar" from taking ADD/ADHD drugs. My guess is that they were mis-diagnosed in the first place. These two disorders have a lot of similarities and can be confused by doctors who are not trained to diagnose these illness. An assessment should be don't by a psychiatrist--not a GP.

in all probability no longer... even nevertheless it may take a individual from Miami to savor LeBron taking ordinary leap photographs and utilising brute rigidity to barrel his way into the paint for a layup. it somewhat is somewhat no longer exciting or imaginitive for me. i could fairly watch a super capturing overall performance by utilising Durant, surprising show of playmaking and famous strikes by utilising Rondo, or the fee of Ellis/Jennings on the open floor for a super quickly injury. i do no longer care lots for finished courtroom lobs. sounds like cherry finding out directly to me. even nevertheless, there is not any doubting their means to make photographs, so i assume the stats do make up for repetitiveness. anyhow, it somewhat is in all probability basically me, because LeBron's been around the league it sluggish, and human beings tend to savor the greater youthful greater exciting gamers.

you should talk to your doctor about this. It is fair game to take for schoolwork. For sports, that is something that you will have to ask people about. It is one of those that could be considered as a performance enhancing drug.

Ask your doctor about long term side effects.

If your ADD condition caused you to be impaired in your academic performance then it is ethical to take the medication to correct that impairment.
