I like to leave my computer on sometimes but I don't like leaving it hooked up to the internet when I'm not around. Any suggestions? It's a pain to have to keep unhooking the modem, which is what I do now.

Assuming your using Windows XP, go to control panels, network connections. Find the connection that says local area network or the name of your connection. Right click on it and hit disable. To turn it back on just right click the same icon and hit enable.

I don't know if it's the same with your cable modem but my DSL modem has a power switch. I just turn it off.
