I've got Toshiba for a year now, it is great. What I've heard about Dell, wasn't comparable to Toshiba. But now they seem all to be better, so my advice from experience is to try Toshiba.

neither...

I know a couple people who brought Toshiba and there are always issues with them.

As for Dell, they have been using cheaper and cheaper materials to keep the price down.

According to friends in the semiconductor industry, the IBM Thinkpad is the better choice. The downside is the price of the labtop. You get what you pay for.

I've had both, and I'd have to say Toshiba. I've had nothing but problems with my Dell. I took a hammer to it and put it out of it's misery (after taking out the hard drive, of course).
