I only been 2 months in my new company. Now i'm 1 month pregnant. That's mean before i reach a year in my new company, i'll be giving birth to my baby. I wonder my boss will fired me because i have to take up maternity leave before i am 1 year in this company. Will he? I don't want to lose my job. And by the way, this company has a few partners. Even if i discuss with the big boss, i afraid the partners might not agree of me having a maternity leave though i did not play much important role in the company. What if they rather take up a new person to replace me and i will lose my job. I can't afford to as i will be losing my income partly to support my husband too. My problem is, i'm very afraid the boss will fired me as pregnant lady will bring problem for the company such as going for medical check-up and maternity leave. Please help.. i'm worried!

I don't dare to discuss with the boss and also i don't plan to let everyone knows of my pregnancy now until they realise it. What should i do for this moment to ease my worried? The most important is whether i can maintain my job or not..

Your employer will not be required to give you family medical leave under the FMLA, but chances are good that they will work with you if you are honest and straightforward with them, and if you are a good worker. I wouldn't wait until the last minute (i.e., until your pregnancy is very obvious) to have a conversation with the human resources person, and with your supervisor. Make sure they know that you want to continue working there, and that even if you have to take your maternity leave as unpaid time, you want to come back to work after the baby is born.

In my experience, the biggest concern employers have is wondering whether they are holding a job for someone who is going to decide to stay home with the baby. Lots of women SAY they will be coming back to work, but change their mind after the baby is born, leaving the employer at the last minute trying to train someone new to fill the vacant position.

Good luck to you!

You won't qualify for employment protection but your employer may hold the job for you as a courtesy. Just ask them about it ahead of time. You should probably wait a bit longer, so that your employment and your pregnancy are a bit more established. I'd talk to them about it at about 5-6 months.

Here's a quote from the Family Medical Leave Act.

An “eligible” employee is an employee who has been employed by the employer for a least 12 months and worked at least 1,250 hours. The 12 months do not need to be consecutive. You are only an “eligible” employee if your employer employs 50 or more employees within 75 miles of the worksite.

Hi hon. An employer can't legally fire a person because of her pregnancy. That would be illegal.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has information online about your right to be free from being fired or otherwise discriminated against, based on your pregnancy. See the link below.

It's possible that as a new employee, you might be able to negotiate a maternity leave.

This is just general information. It is not legal advice and is not meant to be any kind of substitute for the advice of a lawyer.

14 consecutive days, so 10 working days in case you do 'regular' weeks and not shift artwork. you nevertheless get your regular annual bypass away entitlement yet your small business company would have extra entitlements in place for maternity and paternity bypass away etc so it relatively is well worth getting a replica of the maternity and paternity bypass away coverage out of your boss. Me and hubby have purely began mat and pat bypass away so are properly versed in this! purely be sure you're taking your A/L before maternity bypass away in case you would be on mat bypass away whilst the A/L 12 months variations or you may lose it (and that i doubt your corporation will remind you to take it!).

I believe it would be against the law for your company to fire you for the reason you stated. I recommend that you go to your human resources department at work and discuss your situation with them. The number of partners should not matter in your situation. Good Luck!

If they knew you were pregnant when they hired you, it would be different. Also, if your state has the law that they can fire people without a reason, it could happen. BUT, it's also a federal law that you are entitled to pregnancy leave. You should ask your HR person.
