Than to take drastic measures to expaqnd your narrow mind and point of view. I fully expect the drug comments but thats not what I mean.
would you move to a place wholly different than where you live now or take yourself out of your comfort zone in order to gain a broader perspective?
this is a generalized question so dont cry for the lack of specifics

Most people are not interested in opening their minds when it easier to go with the flock. I see many examples of people's refusal to educate themselves right here on Yahoo Answers. So many people blabbing uncontrollably about things they know nothing about with such conviction. A wise man once said " The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, but rather the illusion of knowledge".

i actually did this. i went from a mid sized town to a massive city and then left the country altogether. when i returned to the states i lived some place so small that it was classified as a village where i was lucky enough to meet and get to know a few amish. right now, i'm packing for a trip to lyon just to see what happens when i get there. afterward i'm not sure. maybe the peace corps even though most people i ask about this think i'm nuts. oh well. it won't be the first time.

what mind opening experiences have you had? no doubt they're interesting. they always seem to be.

I agree. extremely, i'm an agnostic atheist and infrequently I have those off days the position i imagine of the potential of a author. It DOES fill in some gaps technological awareness would not. Abrahamic religions are hateful and judgmental and punctiliously contradict technological awareness. My dad has an IQ of one hundred forty 5. he's very intelligent and is left brained. he's a deist. He places a lot idea into his faith. i extremely agree that deists tend to be very psychological. For me, in my opinion, I purely lack perception contained in the bible. The bible is ridiculous. Then my disbelief in God follows that, because, IMO, with out the bible there is not any reason TO believe.

The trouble with thinking is that it requires knowledge and that requires reading, knowing history and forming ones own thoughts, rather than parroting Fox news and talk show sound bytes. Sorry but it’s way too much work for most folks.
Exposure to different culture is expanding, but only for the open mind. Yes, these are good things.

Once upon a time, we had a motivational speaker for the marching band leaders. His name was Dr. Tim. Dr. Tim taught us to move beyond our comfort zones, because that is how one achieves leadership. He also taught us to pay attention to people and details about them, such as eye color. We had to do all these icebreakers and he always changed it up during the workshops. He was great and we were sad when he quit doing the workshops.

John Stuart Mill said you could argue that a pig is happier than a human because the pig is completely satisfied with food and mud. Our more complicated intelligence creates the possibility of dissatisfaction.

Most people, including me, still wouldn't choose to be a pig.

If I didn't have children, I would love to move to an entirely different type of place. However, in the interest of my children, I'm staying put in order to create stability. I sometimes think I have some gypsy running through me.

I am all for getting out of your comfort zone. After all the reason we are here is to learn and grow, the only way to do that is to step outside your comfort zone. Learn all you can while you're here, that is all you get to take with you when you go.
Thanks for the deep question :)
