There is absolutely no reason for you to worry. I am an american who just returned from his annual month long getaway in Egypt and I never had any problem nor heard of anyone who had experienced anything even annoying.

There is very little anti-american sentiment here and you will only feel it in the media and is mainly directoed towards Bush. Egyptians are very hospitable and treat foreigners as guests, you would be surprised at how friendly and open they are with tourists.

There have been no cases of kidnappings, no killings not even theft during my presence and I visit Egypt every year.

Go for it, do not miss out on this amazing experience. It is a lot safer than home.

Enjoy

sir/madam, listen to me, i have the real story here. forget about those other people, they haven't been there...

once you enter a country in the middle east, the passport authorities in the airport spreat the word that an American is in town.

The minute you exit the airport, you have eyes all over you, waiting for the opportune moment, to get you down. Ofcourse, you say, how will they differentiate between an american and any other white tourist.

people will start ask you questions to find out. Like they will ask you to point countries on the map, and you could hardly point mexico on the map. It is the country that is to the bottom of the US on the map. They might ask you why do you call the game that you carry the ball with your hand and pass it or run it football, ofcourse you called it football because you can, even though the whole world defines football as another sport..

Ofcourse, lets face it, you are an american couple, you won't even know where Yukon is. I believe some you guys thing that there is no other countries than the states.Iraq, Afghanistan, and Europe, are prop somwhere up near Detroit...

and when it comes to football, for some reason you are the right and you will say something stupid like, oh u call it here soccer...

Once they know, and they will know, that is it dude...u know how BUSH have been messing around with the middle east because he can..., supporting a terrorsit state like israel, because he believes the israeli blood is more valuable than the scattered blood of the other countries over there. Invading countries to "free it" (from oil prob.) from terrorsits....

Over there, people will have the power too, and they will eat you alive. Have you seen Pirates of the carribean II. You know the part where the barbaric tribe tie jhonny depp and are about to barbecue him. They will do the same thing, but over there they are not as barbaric, they will slaughter you first before they but you on the babrecue....

and, man o man, do they love old people's taste over there...yummyyyyyyyy, i remember those days when we used to eat american and british tourists , ay yay yay.....for some reason you yankees taste better than the brits.

anyways, gtg now, enjoy ur 14 day tour......

Don't let people scare you. The media hypes alot and that is not to say you don't have legitimate concerns but most everything I have read from people who have already been there since this all happened has been positive.
You could get shot at while sitting in your living room by some stray bullet at home. Go and enjoy your long awaited vacation.

never in histroy have terrorists attacked (or attempted) a direct assault on women, children, seniors, priests etc...most were hurt in random public attack but not killed specifically....I see you're still worried
My advice to you is to look up any answer from ANYONE LIVING in the middle east and ignore any kind of foreign advice for this matter (espcially paranoid americans who answered being influenced by their own media like you! )
If you still find hateful answers from Middle eastern people (NOT JUST EGYPT) then don't come....but ignore any foreign answers of people who haven't been to the middle east long enough or AT ALL...

in general nobody safe even in his home, so American were not safe in them country and they still could attack there at any moment.
and in fact i work in tourism field here in Egypt what i can see and tell that American have special security over Egypt and have extra protection from the government, by the end who worry not need leave his home and even at his home he will not be full safe.
my advise go ahead and enjoy your trip. never let terriorst keep us scary and not go around.

I would think you would be perfectly safe. I have been in the middle east during Israeli and whoever wars and had no problems.

You will probably be safer there than in your own country.
There is a lot of obvious armed security but the people generally are quite friendly and more interested in your money than harming you.
Just be respectful of their culture and don't cover yourself in the stars and stripes.

I suggest you take that cruise to Alaska before the global warming melts the North Pole.

You can visit Egypt some other time.
