The UN has a role but the disparity in the relative power of nations make it powerless against major military countries.
It does have some value in concert w/ the WHO (world health organization) it is the only organization that at least brings the plight of poor nations to the international platform.
The UN was not designed to control the World. It was meant to be a forum for world discussion and policy. If our leaders chose not to listen then it is up to the voter to hold them accountable.

Because they are afraid to make the hard decisions. In my opinion the UN lacks a lot of backbone. Terrorist and Terrorist Supported Governments alike are not frightened by the UN because they know from prior incidents that the UN has little backbone and is afraid to truly make the difficult decisions. I think they have to start making the more difficult and controversial decisions instead of just letting them become the responsibility of individual countries. There is power in numbers and if the UN will start asserting the power and pressure it truly is capable of you will see the terrorists start to take the organization much more serious.

The UN only has as much power as the power hungry states like the US are willing to cede to it.All you fascists in this group know it's true.
The UN should be disbanded but the leaders of the world need an excuse on why they cannot act like civilized humans.
They blame the UN.
The leaders of the world are like spoiled children.

The UN operates on the thinking that people will be willing to be friends and not hold grudges against one another. The UN puts a band-aid on problems but does nothing to ultimatly heal wounds.

The UN is the essense of Bureaucracy. The UN attempts to get everyone to agree, and since that will never happen and the the leadership of the UN refuses to make decisions nothing is going to happen. The UN has become another league of nations.

They serve no purpose.

The UN has had one scandal after another. Especially the oil for food scandal. They were supposed to be policing a situation and they used their power to bilk millions and then try to protect the their benefactor along with 3 other voting members of the security council. They have lost a lot of respect.

If you read the history of the UN, you will find that it has always been a worthless money pit and a giant waste of american taxpayer money. Most of the countries that belong to it do not pay the mandatory dues but guess who pick up their billion dollar tabs.

They pretty much took their own power away. They say something and then if it is not obided by they don't do anything about it. It's like..."Hey, we are going to send some inspectors in and you are going to let us look where ever we want and if you don't then, we will be mad and send you a letter telling you about how we didn't like it. They are sissies, they talk the talk but don't walk the walk.
