Certainly not. Although it does feel at times that we are the 51st state we are a very free and democrate society. Neighbours we may be but Canada differs from the States in so many ways. It appears that we are not as patriotic as our neighbours as far as flag waving etc, but we are proud of our country regardless. Canada has the world's second largest land mass for a country and it is actually 10 times the size of the States although the States has 10 times the population. Our splendid heritage differs greatly from that of the USA and we value things differently from them also. Nature is very important as are the arts, culture and social issues. So I for one would choose not to become an American if ever our two countries should merge.

No. Too many cultural differences. YES! Differences!!!!
Free health care? Sure! The doctor tells me he suspects a malignant tumor and wants an MRI of the suspected neoplasm. One problem, it may be six months before I can get scheduled for an MRI!!!!!!!! Free health care my a$$...It's Darwinian social triage.
