My brother has obtained a White House fellowship. We were talking the other night, and he told me he would have the opportunity to ask several key people in the government one question. We already figured one out for President Bush. If you could ask Donald Rumsfeld and Condileeza Rice one question, what would it be? I'm sure he'll figure something out.....but I'm interested in what you all would ask.

What is there to ask?

With the exception of President Ronald Reagan, I doubt that any member of the White House or his staff thinks about any long range program that he is willing to commit to.

I believe they spend all of their tours, (elected or appointed) concentrating on the problems of the moment and to hell with tomorrow.

When they enter their office in the morning, I believe they enter with a mind that is almost clear of promise and their service to the country begins after the morning coffee.

Yesterday is a safe topic to talk about because it cannot be changed, and you have all its answers. Tomorrow is safe because it hasn't happened and can become anything. Today is the best day because it is being developed and you cannot be responsible until you have exposed all the answers.

Why worry about the future because it can be altered in every conceivable way, all without you being blamed.

These are the people who have our futures in their hands

I don't feel like asking anything. I feel that non of my questions would have any impact to their decisions. Also, I feel that they would not have anything to give me.

Maybe just some cliche like: "Why your decisions are so often dictated by hate and fear and not love?"

or

"Do you have anything you want to tell me? And why?"
