I don't know about your area but colleges here usually have a private book store nearby that will buy used college books. They, of course, resell them to students for the next semester.
They won't buy the book if the school is buying a new edition for the coming semester of course, but it is a way to get rid of books you no longer want.
Also, the bookstore the college has will usually buy your old books, in good condition. You could ask anyway.

Geez....
col·lage Pronunciation (k-läzh, k-)
n.
1.
a. An artistic composition of materials and objects pasted over a surface, often with unifying lines and color.
b. A work, such as a literary piece, composed of both borrowed and original material.
2. The art of creating such compositions.
3. An assemblage of diverse elements: a collage of conflicting memories.
Sorry, it's just so depressing that we have COLLEGE students/graduates who can't spell words correctly.
*sigh*

I sell my old books thru Amzon.com.
Enter the ISBN in the search window, then click on the link "sell your here". Look at the prices that you can get, choose a price to sell your at, lower...or mid-range, depending on the condition of the book...and wait for a buyer. Amazon emails you where to ship the book, they give you a shipping allowance, and you send the book "media mail" via USPS, and get credit on your account. (mine is my checking account)
