Ok, I was a telemarketer for a month. Yeah some people buy but most are either too nice or really rude.
What I always enjoyed was the jokester. I maybe got one a day, but I would've loved to have ten a day. I.e. the old Seinfeld scenario, "Let me call you back. Oh, you don't want me callin you at home???" Hahaha.
This one was good: "Jimmy's not here. He went out back to feed the pigs and they ate em!"
Another: "I know what you need the money for. You have a problem. You really need to get help."
Believe it or not, calls like these always brightened my day. Didn't matter if I made a sell or not.

I tell them in am very interested in their product, but do not have time to listen. But if they give me their home phone number I will call them at home once they are off work and listen. When they refuse, I get "very insulted" that they do not want to sell me their product and hang up.

It depends on what they are trying to sell. For most home improvment/refinacing morgage calls, the words "I rent" have them getting off the phone as fast at they can. Otherwise a "no, thank you" and a hang up is the method I use as soon as I can get a word in.

Subscribe to the do not call list, and then it will be agains the law for them to call you. There is a website that allows you to subscribe to that list. Just do an internet search for it.

tell them that you wanted to be deleted from their calling list and that if you recieve another call from them you are reporting them.
Yelling at them does not work neither does hanging up

i put my name and phone number on the national do not call list. if one happens to call me, i tell them this and tell them i am going to report them. works like a charm. i used to get 3-4 calls per day and now i get maybe 1 per week.
