I don't think it is a good idea to reward good grades. Parents should expect their children to do their very best in school. Some students are capable of As and Bs, while other students may do their very best and get lower grades.

I do believe that students your age should receive a regular allowance which they may spend as they wish. I also think students your age can begin looking for ways to earn extra money to supplement that allowance if they wish.

I am an 8th grade teacher and do not agree with pay for grades. Some research shows that rewards for short term goals like an A on a report card have long term negative effects on student progress. Ideally you should be striving for good grades because ithat is what is important to you. 7th and 8th grade are a good time to work out how hard you need to work to achieve your best.

They are spoiled
I got good grades for the satisfaction of getting good grades...not because I was promised money or anything. I just got a 4.0 this last semester (senior in college) and it was more rewarding than any money.
Let them spoiled kids be spoiled...work for your grades because they will get you far in life...not because your parents will give you a few bucks.

I think that rewards like money are not always the best thing but it is nice to recieve a reward of praise.Maybee a night at the movies and dinner with your parents just to celibrate how hard you work. There is nothing wrong with aknowledging your hard work.

I think in this world we live in with all the materialism that exist that its totally appropriate that you get paid by your parents for good grades.

I'm not saying this will apply to you, but I paid my son for good grades. Not much, but I paid him from 3rd grade on $5 for every A or 90 or above average after every six weeks grading period. This was a habit for me to do this and he came to expect it. So what happened?

In 2002 when he graduated from high school he finished so high in his class and did so well on his SATs that he got a full scholarship to a University. I'm not saying my paying him did it, but it didn't hurt. In the long run our family saved over $40,000 with his schooling being paid.

Show my answer to your parents, perhaps they will pay you for good grades. Good grades are special, you deserve something extra for your hard work.

PS: Your parents are welcomed to e-mail me if they think this is a bogus story. Its true, I promise.

no you shouldn't. You should be thankful that your parents don't beat you up for low grades like C's. Ever wondered why there's a stereotype that asians are smart? I'll tell you why; because asian parents beat up their kids for grades less than A's. Now if an asian kid get B's... he or she is outta the house.

My mom has always thought that was expected of my sister and I. So in my thought is that if you do it to get something then are you really learning to work hard for yourself or for a payment

Why should you be rewarded for something that you are expected to do under any circumstances?
