I think fish are perfectly happy in a tank that gives them plenty of room and a natural habitat. Many people put way too many fish in way too small a space, and don't add plants or anything. Fish like places to hide and rest as well as plenty of room to explore.

it depends on how you take care of them, and if you give them the recommend amount of space and tankmates that they require. most fish in stores are bred in captivity, so they know nothing else but aquariums,so thats not an issue, plus i believe fish dont have a very long term memory, but i could be wrong there.

I don't know if their happy or not seeing as how I don't speak fish language but at least they don't have to worry about being eaten by bigger fish.

No, they are probably not very happy at all. Assuming, of course they know emotion in the first place

Yes but only if they were bred in captivity as that way they would not know the wonders of open water.

I think so. You give me a free place to stay, feed me, and fresh water...I am one happy man.
