My best friend is a black female and we go to the same high school- we're both about to be Juniors. My sophomore year she told me she couldn't hang out with me because we go to a mostly black high school, and she doesn't want people seeing me with her because Im white. I am very hurt and told her I was, and she told me "Well you have to understand that as a black woman, I see the world differently from you." I dont get it. We both have similar interests, and Im very friendly to everyone. Other black students dont have a problem with me. Do you think she's just saying she cant hang out with me because of my skin to cover up the fact that she might think Im a loser or something? Im really hurt and cant believe my friend Ive known since grade school could say such a prejudice thing to me

She's a small-minded idiot. Don't let her bother you--she did that cuz she's not feeling too good about herself. People usually don't say things like that unless they're really insecure about their "blackness" and in essence are trying to be black by alienating themselves from things of any other culture. It's stupid. Hang out with real people. She's obviously not a real friend.

wow that is very wrong of her to say such a thing i my self am a black female and i got a mostly white school but everyone gets along and there is no racismi think your friend is judging u by the color of your skin and maybe someone else told her that white ppl are losers and maybe she really does like u but she doesnt want to be seen with u around that person that she thinks is so great to her and i think u should just ignore that because racism is a very immature thing everyone is equal as far as race and i think u deserve better thatn that so continue to enjoy life and forget about her because if she wants to act like that u dont need her

First to redheadbro: I am not a racist and nor do I care if anyone else is. My husband is white and my best friend is Navajo so I am so far from a racist.

And to answer the question: Why would you want someone like her as a friend. My advice move on and when she comes crawling back(which she will) look her in the eye and say "Im sorry I was too white for you then and Im afriad Im too white for you now."

to redbro or whatever and report abuse....i am not racist against anybody. it's not just black people who are racist and hypocrites some whites, Mexicans, Chinese, Filipino, etc. are racist sometimes to. and you two are the ones who are racists.

Back to the ?s:
Your friend is very wrong for this. She could just be tryin to cover it up or she could really be racist. There is nothin you can do about racist people they are always gonna be in this world. It's never gonna go away. Stick with your other friends who are obviously better friends than she'll ever be. I know you'll miss her but there's nothin you can do to change some peoples' minds.

She's probably under pressure from her black friends/family who are very resented against whites because of all the segregation in the past... sadly this won't stop until like 4 generations from now. Cheer up girl!

White individual being racist? stunning!! What else is new. She in all probability hates some Asian lady in college and is now biased against all Asians for that stupid reason. purely carry out with cooler human beings. Asian toddlers are lovable era!

I dont think what your friend did is deemed racism. It is more of a peer acceptance. She may have this fear that her other black frens may not take it too kindly...or perhaps it is the harsh reality of growing up in a getto...of prejudices inplanted by the society she grew up in. Be gracious in all things u do. In time she will realise who you are and what you stand for.

Be your true self...dont become bitter bcos of one bitter experience...there are 600 million other americans watching you.

If you like the same things that they like and the black students don't have a problem with you then you should be able to hangout with her. just tell your friend how you feel

I think someone is influencing your friends decision. its weird for her to all of a sudden not want to hang out with you because you are white. i think you should talk to her or try talking to others around her and see if you can find out why she is acting strange.
