We have a P.C. , a PS2, an Xbox and for mobility he has a PSP. What's up? I have to bribe him just so I can check my email. When I was his age I was chasing skirts.

Okay- you need some serious boundaries.
You are allowing the child to run the house.

Its a great baby sitter for you, yet the job of encouraging him to grow as a well rounded man is your responsibility.

Limit all his activities to your standards. PC on two nights a week and weekends outside of the family events that YOU plan, outside of the house and inside the house THAT you will participate in with him and the other children.

So he is not the problem. He is just being encouraged to behave the way that most convenient for you.

Not the reality check you wanted I'm sure! He is the most important thing in your house, he is your legacy, the bloodline that will carry your morality into the family historical records. You might be more concerned with HIM rather than PC usage.

Believe it or not, there is an upside to video games. Video games teach patients, and thinking outside the box. They are a good way to pass the time when it's too hot, or too cold to play outdoor games. And, HAY !, at least you know where your kid is, and what hes doing. However I would advise you to encourage your kid to go outside, when the weathers nice. You could become involved in video gaming yourself, it could be something you, and your kid do together on rainy days and such.
As for chasing skirts, well maybe he's shy. I was painfully shy myself, and it took time for me to work through that, but once I over came my shyness I did my share of skirt chasing. So remember these things will pass, in time. Hope this helps.

As long as his grade don't change and he helps out when you need him to then there is nothing to worry about. I play games all the time and i still work my 40 plus hours and take care of my family at the same time. But if it is affecting his life then i would step in, i mean you bought all the stuff for him so maybe take away the ps2 and the x-box for some time so he can focus on other things..

I just heard of an 18 years old boy that wanted to play video games all the time. His mother did not approve so he went to live with his dad. He made an agreement that he would enter contests and if he did not win any money, he would go to college. Long story short, he won the worldwide contest and one million dollars and he will endorse products. So I wouldn't be too hard on him.

Nothing is wrong with him. He's just addicted. I think that's too many game systems for a kid. Maybe you guys need to do outdoor things like play baseball or football or something. Get some fresh air or do what my dad did, we would drive around checking out chicks.

Unfortunately and I do mean unfortunately, that is the times we live in today. If I was in charge, I would ban all video games as it is as addictive as drugs. I see the eyes of those kids when they are playing.. it is intense.. they should be out studying mathematics or geography.. I am NOT old fashioned but It is just not right

Maybe he lacks the self confidence to go after women like you did when you were his age, there is also a chance that hes a social reject and or sociopath, Or maybe he has aspergers autism, its a minor form of autism that still shows a remarkable level of high functioning in society.I sympothize with your kid because i was an asperger but i started coming out of it when i was around 18, heres a link:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspergers

All I know is waiting isn't going to help. I'm on the computer 24/7 too. >.<

We don't get tired of the computer.

This is normal for the average American with access to the internet.

Whatever happened to playing with Hot Wheels and Legos??

There is nothing wrong with him. Be glad he is not out chasing girls and taking drugs or drinking. My son (who is a married father and is late 20's) loves games. His son plays with him. They share time this way. So, sit down and ask your son to show you what he is doing. Enjoy being with him now, it won't be long before he is on his own.
