I'm not sure when to put my 16 month old into a toddler bed.

Between 2 and 3 years of age is the average; however, it does not always depend on the age. If your child can easily and confidently climb up on a chair or the couch and get down just as well, then they are ready for a toddler bed. How developed are your child's motor skills and reflexes? These would mainly determine the transition from crib to toddler bed.

I put my son in a toddler bed at 14 months because he was climbing out of his crib, it was a safety issue for us and it was just safer, he did just fine. If I had it to do again though I would skip the toddler bed and go straight to a twin size. He's a big boy (2 1/2 and 38" tall) so he outgrew the toddler bed very quickly.

When he's ready. If you take him out too early he' ll have trouble sleeping later. My 5 year old had to go into a bed at 18 months because we were having another baby. He didn't want to leave his crib. Now he is a bear to put to bed. My 3 year old didn't go into a bed until he was almost 3 but he was showing signs that he was ready. He is a dream to put to bed. I put them right into regular beds and just put up those mesh sides so he wouldn't fall out. I didn't want to have to go through getting him into a regular bed from a toddler bed. If he can get out of his crib...it's time for a bed. Good Luck

My doctor told me that when the child can climb out of the crib it's time for a bed!!! My 4 year old son used to hop right over the crib rail and he gave me a heart attack every time cause I thought "One day this kid is gonna slip and break his neck" So when they start to climb out honey it's time for the bed! Have fun! P.S.-make sure you keep pillows on the floor while doing this cause they will find a way off of the bed no matter how many guard rails you put up! Kids are amazing!!

Two is a good age to start sleeping in a toddler bed, just make sure that you have good sturdy guard rails and a nice soft carpet near the bed just in case.

Depends on what you're comfortable with. My oldest went in a twin bed at 27 months. My youngest went in a twin bed shortly before she turned three.

We skipped the toddler bed because my oldest is very tall for her age. She would have used it just for a couple months. I didn't want to spend the money.

when he/she is 2 years old that's when my mom put my brother into a toddler bed, and he loves it, so try it and if he doesn't just wait and do it later.

I put my son into his 'big boy bed' when he was just over two years. We new it was time 'cause he would climb out. So I think that if you find that your child is starting to climb out then he/she is pretty much telling you that they are ready. Its very important to make the switch for your child fun, thats why we call our son's bed his big boy bed.

You should wait until he/she is two and a half. That is a good age. That is how old my kids were.
