Some of the words in the spells are based on Latin.

I'm not certain on this, but I dont think its really any language. I'm pretty sure that JKR made up most of the words. But the base of the words have latin roots.

I believe that J. K. Rowling made up many of the words in the spells, though they sound reminiscent of Latin.
