I'd rather be paid salary because I don't want to depend on the fickleness of customers to make a living. By that I mean I don't want to NOT get paid because, no matter how well I'm selling a product, a customer is a cheap s.o.b. and doesn't want to shell out money for a good product. Nor do I want someone not to buy the product I'm selling because he doesn't like the color of my skin or the tie I'm wearing or the length of my hair or because he'd rather give business the attractive woman working a few feet away. I wouldn't want my livelihood to depend on such fickleness.

Well, the only time I worked for commission I was selling cars and I made a ton of money. If I ever went back to it I would choose a commission position in that arena. Another dealership offered me 100 a car sale (salary) where as I was averaging over 500(commission) a sale where I was at. Its a little risky but the payoff can be huge, you just have to save for the time when its not

Because I'm so good at what I do I would rather have commission because the salary wouldn't even come close:-)

salary, so I would not have to worry all the time about how much my checks would be. In a sales position, ideal would be salary PLUS commission

Salary, because its steady. Commision I wouldnt trust, you could make $3000 one month and $1000 the next month. Its not exactly the salary I would want.

Salary. Unless you're really good at selling stuff, it's better to have a reliable income coming in than next to nothing.

Salary because you always know what amount you have coming into the household. It will help you create and balance your budget.
