I want to have my IUD removed after having it a few years (I'm getting married and want to try Natural Family Planning). When it was inserted, I was required to be on my period. Does anyone know if I have to be on my period when it is removed?

An IUD can be removed at any time and the procedure is quicker and easier than insertion. If it is removed near ovulation, a woman may become pregnant from recent intercourse before IUD removal.

An IUD may be removed at anytime during the month.
HOWEVER it is less painful if it is done during your period so that
your cervix does not have to be dilated to much by your doctor.

Keep in mind that if the IUD is removed near your ovulation period
you can become pregnant if you have had sex before the IUD was removed.

You may want to reconsider the natural family planning method.
As it leads to high pregnancy rates.

I am one of 6 children who was conceived using this method.

all the best to you on your up coming marriage

No u don't and alot of the IUD's come out on their own after long term. Mine did. I went in there to have it removed and it was already gone. You might want the doctor to first check to see if it's still there before you go to surgery. Mine did. If he doesn't check first then it doesn't say much for your doctor.I wish you all the happiness with your marriage and new life.

I don't think so. Call your GYN to make an appointment. Why do you want to try natural family planning? Are you ready to have a surprise baby?

I don't think so I believe the doctor would prefer for you to be off your period but to be on the safe side I believe they would like for you to had one

I think the best thing to do would be to ask that question of your doctor. If he doesn't know then you are really in trouble.

Good luck.
