Other than an actual cat on an actual roof, what would be a good image to put on a poster advertising this play? Something that relates to the story and would make a catchy sign?

Got to wonder if the Answerer 1 (or the person asking the question) has actually read the play...."Cat On A Hot Tin Roof" may take place during a party, but it' s not ABOUT a party. It's about the relationship between Maggie and Brick, and why he seems so unable to give her the child that Big Daddy wants her to have....maybe because he's gay? And the sight of Maggie in her underwear throughout the play doesn't do anything for him? Which is why everybody's upstairs in that bedroom (not on the roof...) at some point, fighting...and not very nicely dressed...

I think a woman in her slip, leaning on a bed might get the job done for the audience, if not for Brick...She is, after all, Maggie the Cat...

This is a hard one. If you can actually put yourself in the position of Maggie and how her emotions are running through the story. She is beautiful, sexy, wanting her husband, but all she gets is rejection. The feeling of frustration, anxiety, abandonment, rejection, to the point of her being a cat on a hot tin roof, meaning she cannot stand it and jumping up and down inside.
She cannot turn her husband on and she does not know why.

I would say, dark colors, with bright red, coming up from a roof. In the midst of the red, is Maggie's face, looking through the red, a large picture of her face. with a look of sadness on her face. Her hair is short cut around her face, her deep bluish/purple large
eyes, show her asking "why". The darkness and red, show her anger, but deep inside, she feel abandoned and alone. I think the sadness and frustration should show in her eyes. Once you can feel her pain, you can paint this poster. Good luck! You can do it. Just get into the story and the feeling of despair of Maggie.

Silhouette of a man, and a woman. Nicely dressed, standing with their backs to each other, woman with a cigarette in their hand, the man with a martini glass in his hand.

They could be standing on the roof, or not. If you use the roof, put something underneath the roof, like a party going on, which is what the play is about.

I would put a mirror in the image, and have the silhouettes reflect life, maybe a good juxtaposition if you will . . .

I would make a bed a feature of any advertising. A woman in a slip, alcohol, a man with crutches are all strong images as well.

What we did was have Brick sitting down and Maggie standing by him a la Mrs. Robinson with a whisky bottle on the table between them so you couldn't tell whether he was looking at his wife's leg or the booze. Black backdrop, quite soft sepia-ish light. Worked really well.

How about Brick in a closet with Maggie outside trying to pull him out? Hmmm?

Liz Taylor in her nightgown! I doubt if you can get Liz to perform in your local production, but Liz in her prime, gowned, could raise more sparks than the average modern porn star, ungowned.
