My family and I are headed to NYC Wednesday and I have no clue how to get started in getting my daughter an agent or a contract or whatever. She is 3 years old and is THE most naturally beautiful thing I've ever seen and everywhere we go someone will comment on her. Any ideas?

I used to work at the NYC office of a Hollywood talent agency.

I would DEFINITELY NOT recommend trying to get your daughter into entertainment or modeling. It is not an environment for children. It is filled with rejection, coldness, shallowness and meanness.

People don't really "get discovered." Children who are models or performers have to be really committed to their careers, and their whole families have to be committed too. You would probably have to move to NYC or LA. You would have to take your daughter to tons of agents and casting directors and auditions before she would get a job. And even then, gettting a job is far from guaranteed.

Do you really want people to value your daughter for her looks? Is that the lesson you want her to learn?

Also, if she has success, she will be exposed to all kinds of horrible influences. People will try to use her and then they will discard her when she's not useful anymore.

Even if she makes it through that okay, it is highly unlikely that her success will translate into her teen/adult years. So she would spend her whole life remembering that her biggest accomplishments were when she was a preschooler.

I wouldn't want that for my kid.

I'm sure she'll grow up to be just as gorgeous. Then she can make an informed decision about what SHE wants to do.

When you tell other people that your daughter is THE most beautiful; of THE most talented -- then you will sound like EVERY other parent. It wil lbe hard to get anyone to take time to stop- look- and listen.

It would be a good thing, in my opinion, to let your three year old be a child. Even if you were to beat the odds and get her 'discovered' - you would be robbing her of a childhood, (and perhaps an adulthood as well).

Think back over several decades, even the whole 20th century. Perhaps you'll notice that so very FEW child stars (in movies, music, beauty pagents, or any field) had a career as an adult. And some of them suffered later from not learning the normal childhood social skills.

Dear Ponder,

I recommend that you do some research into the industry (modeling, etc.) before you do this. She may be beautiful, but are you prepared for the impact something like that will do?

Please reconsider.

Come on, lady. Every mother thinks that of their child. Why would you put your child through that? Ever heard of Dana Plato?

Try not living your dreams through your daughter and just let her be a kid.

Please please please turn around in a circle thrice and say JonBenet JonBenet JonBenet. Explotation of toddlers is on no account clever. bypass to interior sight shops and get a start up on your interior sight community. do no longer bypass on line finding for scams, exploitation, and abuse.
