In January of this year I was arrested and charged with 2 misdemeanor charges. I went to jail and was bailed out. I didn't show up for my court appearance and a warrant was issued for my arrest. I hired a lawyer and my warrant is now quashed and my lawyer is trying to get both charges dropped. I have a case management hearing scheduled for later this month. As of right now will those 2 charges show up on a criminal background check? Thanks in advance.

It all depends on how through a background check is performed. If you are applying for a high level security position or need to be bonded for a high dollar amount, it could come up. Most companies perform a lower level criminal background check that only picks up felony convictions and misdemeanors involving theft or fraud( this almost always the case in a high bonding situation performed by the insurance carrier) If the position you are applying for does not fall into these categories, you should be fine. If the job requires you to obtain a new CDL( Commercial Drivers License) with a Hazmat endorsement, you will be check out by the FBI due to the changes involving the Patriot Act.

Yes. My last background check included everything. I had my license suspended years ago, and it came up. Despite the fact that I had cleared them up, it still showed on the report. In your case, despite the fact that the charges might be dropped in the future, they are not dropped as of today.

Employers don't care about misdemeanors, only felonies and driving.

If you really want the job, inform the employer in advance so it's not a surprise when they run it.
