I enjoy the books quite a bit. The movies are okay. I do like the fact that they highlight more of the funny lines. the 3rd movie was good even though it didn't follow the book. I was rather disapointed with the 4th movie, probally because its my favotite book. The movie seemed to focus more on effects rather than the plot. Overall very fun books to read. Its great to see more people reading. Although sometimes I think the younger kids should not be reading the books especially the later ones where they get darker. Overall I would say I like them, but I am not obssessed like some other people I know.

The books are good, not the best thing ever written, but better than the majority of books in its genre. I also like that it's getting more people (even adults) to pick up something to read. That said, I think the major commercialization centering around the HP phenomenon is a bit too much.

Still, I enjoyed the movies and the books (only read them each once and am not waiting impatiently for the last one).

Let me tell you a story.....Once upon a time there was a geeky girl who didnt have man friends but loved to read. She loved best the classics. When she heard of the Harry Potter books she scoffed them and dismissed them as a passing fancyand refused to read them because they were mainstream

Then one day she decided to get the first book for a gift to the kids she babysat. They didn't seem too interested but she refused to return the book and thought 'I paid for this book dammit! So by god someone's going to read it!'

So she sat down and prepared to read a book she was ready to hate....She read .... and she read.... and she read.....
She read it in one sitting and did a complete 180.

She rand to the library and checked out the rest of the books that were out at the time (books 1 - 4) and read them in three days.

And after that she agonized over how long it took for each book to come out. Now she loves the books so much she writes fanfiction and actually did a little victory dance when she read a certain partin book six invoving a certain wizard kissing a certain witch in the common room.

She likes the movies but wishes they would be more truer to the books. And yes it is agonizing to wait for the next book!

THE END

I think generally it's good. I have seen a lot more kids as well as adults reading because of this book, even though some are pretty long books. I think that's the most important aspect, the fact that the Harry Potter stories help promote reading, not just Harry Potter, but other stories as well.

I'm a 43 year old father of two. I studied English Lit in college, and read constantly still. I have this to say about Harry Potter --

He's brilliant! I love the books! And, much more than the movies, as they can never be as in depth... and yes, waiting for the next book is excruciatingly painful (cruciatus curse anyone?).

Fantastic. I put off reading the books at first because I thought they were for kids. Not so. They are well written, entertaining, and I found them mesmerizing. I love the movies too - I'll watch them over and over, and I don't do that with very many movies. JK Rowling is a rare talent. Can't wait for the next one!

I love the books, I get so absorbed into the magical realm, It's great to get away from reality and go into a world where anything can happen by a flick of a wand. I just love it all.
