I don't understand how stairway to heaven even comes close to the greatest solo of all time. It is a standard minor pentatonic scale, no skill involved.
Anything by Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Blues Saraceno, Eric Johnson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, etc, etc. far exceeds a simple ditty by Mr Page

Over the Moutain------ Ozzy Osbourne~s Diary Of a Madman album. Guitarist ----- Mr. Randy Rhoads . Rock music was dead in the early 80`s and this MF reinvented rock and roll / Heavy Metal. Disco was going out and Randy Rhoads made sure of it! Even VanHalen admits Randy had more talent than him and was more creative.. I mean the guy was a guitar teacher turned Heavy Metal giant in 2 albums. How many guitarist can say or do that other than VanHalen.

Try the title track to The Paul Butterfield Blues Band album "East-West". Mike Bloomfield does a 4 minute plus solo that is a killer. The whole cd is fantastic as well.

I agree. I would either choose that or Jimi Hendrix playing the national anthem at woodstock......have you heard him? It's absolutely beyond cool.
