the hit and run..... if done correctly, it is the most efficient, run producing play of them all (well, other than home run, but home runs aren't underrated)

Bunting is probably under-utilized.
The double play is still "a pitcher's best friend" and a rally-killer, but I don't know that it's underrated.

The hit-and-run, or run-and-hit may be my choice of the three, as not too many teams do it well. This is probably due to the fact that in today's game, most players swing for the fences and don't make contact often enough.

Other underrated "plays" include: slapping the ball to the right side to advance the runner(s), and the pitcher starting the count with a strike.

The long running catch in the outfield, when the ball looks sure to make it into the gap, is very underrated.

The batting team thinks they're looking at an extra-base hit and wham, the speedy outfielder makes a great catch. It can really deflate the opposing team. I've seen it over and over.

It may only show up as a flyout in the scorebook, but it can be huge. Especially with runners on base.

I'll have to agree with the hit and run being the most underrated. Stealing third base is pointless. The chances of getting thrown out is simply not worth it being that second base is considered "scoring position". Stealing home is even worse.

I think bunting. So many players can not put down a good bunt and it more players could do it I think managers would manage quite differently.

Bunting. Small ball in general is under-rated.

Stealing third base. This can make the difference in the game, but is often avoided simply because it's easier to get thrown out. I think it's always good to take the risk.

The Double Play. It can kill a rally, eliminate a threat, keep a pitcher in the game for one more inning and save the bull pen.

great hitters hit for high average even with 2 strikes
Yanks only got A-Rod so Sox couldn't.
He doesn't fit the Yankee philosophy for hitters.
He's only .220 hitter in career when count reaches 2 strikes.
He's .170 hitter this year.
Yanks had to have known he's not a great hitter.
Not like Giambi, Jeter, Damon, Bernie
Seems like if he doesn't get a hit on 1 of first 2 pitches, he's out.
thank-you for letting me get this off my chest.
GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!YANKS!!!!!!!
