Our company was recently taken over by some new management. As a result alot of people have either terminated their employment or have gotton fired. What was once a company of 40 is now of 8. I am one of the few and as a result, we are picking up a TON of slack. Now normally, I do not mind taking on more tasks and am currently doing so dispite an Internship and College Courses. Problem is my boss does not communicate effectively with me. She will assign me to re-do our Customer Databases with little or no direction (because she has never done it). I do my best and send it to her, not to hear back for 4-5 days later.. and when I do it's "Could you please send me the database listing?" HELLO!!!! I just sent it!!!! I don't want her to think I am neglecting my duties but am becoming increasingly frustrated. To be honest, I had difficuly establishing this database because my personal computer (they do not provide me with one) is low on memory from previous reports.

Please HELP.

It sounds like you have a boss that forgets. She may have a lot of pressure on her or whatever, but she is not focusing on what she tells you to do and soon forgets it, until she needs it. With a boss like that you need to keep a record of when you get a job, finish it and send it. I also recommend keeping copies of stuff in case she "loses" what you send her.

As for the company, they don't provide computers -- you have to use your own. 20% of the workforce is doing 100% of the work. This company is bent on saving money. Period. This is not a good situation for workers. It is all to the benefit of the corporate heads. Your boss is no doubt responsible to get their agenda accomplished. That is a lot of pressure. You are just a cog that is needed for the moment. That being the case, I wouldn't stay unless the pay were more than peanuts. Only the pay would justify staying in a situation like that.

LOL..."Please help"? Buddy...if you went from 40 to 8 in zero point three seconds you need more than help. Talk about trimming fat! Let me give you some direction here. When a company does what yours did it's only a matter of time before the next step is you're phased out and the operations that you did are absorbed into the parent company. If you're independant and not connected to anyone....even worse. the writings on the wall. Only because you'd get it on your computer screen but the cheap bastards won't give you enough RAM.
Start searching the want ads. Good luck and get out before the water reaches the boilers.

Is the company being take over or just managment change?

if you still wants your job, one suggestion is to provide a 1/2 week or daily status to her.

List out the items on your plate and an update status. Like it will be completed by and so forth.

Plus, tell her that you need better equipement for better efficiency. With 32 people gone, there must be some good computer left for you.

It's time you stood up for yourself and not allow this type of treatment at work. I would leave this job faster than you could say "Tsunami".
These kinds of conditions are terrible and the only way they stop is if no one puts up with it.

If your boss is an idiot, you have a decision to make. Either stay and continue working for the idiot and shut up about it or get some spine and say ''no thanks."
