In my mind that means that to love someone is only half of what it takes to be happy with them. Love is a beautiful thing but if you have respect and friendship, trust and honesty for that person, you will most likely be happier!

There's much more to a successful relationship than two people loving one another. For instance, two people love each other, but one is beating up the other and manipulating them. Obviously, this is a relationship gone wrong. Like the other posts say, there needs to be trust, honesty, respect, and communication.

To me, this means that loving someone is only part of the equation to make a relationship work. It takes lots of love, compassion, commitment, respect, honesty, trust, and lots and lots of work from both parties to make it work. Love is only a part of that; the rest is hard work.

It means that love isn't enough to sustain a long-term romantic relationship. Trust, work, respect, will – even circumstance, unfortunately – all play their role.
