I cannot go on vacation. No leave from office for some time. We have no kids but expected to become father next jan .. :)

Get her something she is interested in.
or lingerie, flowers, gift certificte, if you have kids a trip to a spa for a massage can be really appreciated. And depending how much time you can do this very cost effective too. Sometimes places have promotional things going on. But even with out the kids a nice trip to the spa is a great thing!

You sound like my husband. He gives permission to buy myself something for my birthday. Not that I need his permission because I keep track of our finances but that is his gift to me on my birthday, our anniversary, Christmas...

my husband never gives me anything either but pay for her to have a day of pampering make her a nail appointment massage session and when she gets home have a dinner prepared for her by candlelight

what ever you do not give her a blender. take a small vacation with her. some place new and do the spa thing. and the shopping thing and there she will tell you what else she wants.
