It's not what you wear. It's your undergarments. The right size undergarments and a good girdle work wonders.

Wrap dresses - as mentioned above, are a good idea.
Also, look for empire waist on your shirts (the waist line should be right below the breasts). Then, the fabric will fall away from the body and not hug the belly.
V-neck shirts draw attention up and away from your waist.
A good bra is a must. It sounds silly, but often women's waists look larger because their 'girls' are hanging down way to low.
Look for skirts that flare away from the body. This helps to balance the top and bottom.
And the key - don't get caught up worrying about the size. It's just a number. Fit the largest part of your body (the stomach?) and if the rest of the item needs to be altered - take it to the tailor.
Happy shopping.

Be sure to wear the proper size. Wear tunics that go beyond your butt and just skim your figure. With it wear slightly tapered pants or skirts. Forget the belts unless it comes with a gorgeous outfit, is matching, and skims your body. I think the important thing is perfect fit and colors that flatter your face and figure.

Wearing all black makes y ou look slimmer. Or just wear a moo-moo!!! Corsets aren't bad either. Also those flared shirts that flare just below the bust line work too!

In fall and winter, blazers create really flattering curves and can camoflauge trouble spots in the torso. They also can be dressed up or down pretty easily.

yeah, the best thing for you to do is try on different styles at the mall and see what makes you slimmer than others. it all depends on you body shape. i do know these styles seem to flatter all types: wrap skirts, shirred bodice type shirts or dresses.
