When I hand feed my rat, he takes the food gently, and then puts the food down, and washes himself before eating. He also washes after eating. So how can people say that rats are "dirty"?

And yes, I do dislike rats. Snakes and spiders too.

Definetly - I agree! Wild rats give domestic ones a bad rap, when in reality they are some of the best pets. Well, ok, I don't adore their tail, but they are so much fun you don't notice it and it isn't that bad. So, no, I love rats! And I convinced some friends of mine the same... even the Mom! So now they are way more into rats than I am!

Rats are very smart and you can actually train them to do some pretty cool things. I know someone who had a rat that was a clean freak. If he got something on his tail he wouldn't move until it was cleaned off. He had to wash his food off in a water bowl or he wouldn't eat it. So I do believe that they are not dirty.

i own 2 girl rats and have owned rats my whole life i think rats are great pets there friendly and fun and do cool stuff mine to are very clean just watch out for your stuff if te can reach out the cage with there paws they will grab clothes and chew on it but i love rats and love owning them

i dont see anything wrong with rats. i once had one named nippa, he was the best pet ever and he always kept himself clean. these people slagging of rats probably havent owned one.

well i myself really find rats disgusting but thats interesting so i think its because where they live and what they eat
