It could be your climate. Pumpkins like warm days and cool nights. It has been very hot in some area's this summer, and the nights haven't been very cool, so it's possible they're just maturing too quickly due to the warm nights.

Same here, It's ok, they aren't ripe yet. They will get a little softer still. This is common for the "jack o'lantern". It will still grow up till the end of October or first frost. Make sure it gets water and ammend the soil a little better next year with lots of compost.
For a bigger Pumpkin try Dill's Atlantic Giant. I grew one 150 pounds last years with just sun and water. Some people get them 1400+ lbs!

I grew pumpkins from seed this year too, and my pumpkin is the size of a bowling ball, but mine too has turned orange already. I don't know, last year my pumpkins were green and never turned orange at all. Unfortunately, all I know about pumpkins is that they are extremely suseptible to pumpkin wilt, which is a mildew they get on their leaves. I think its worth a try to give them sugary water like the first girl said...it makes sense.
Last night I asked my father-in-law (he used to live on a farm) about pumpkins already turning orange this time of year...he said it is normal, to leave them on the vine, and they will grow bigger. Just keep them watered!

Tips for Growing Giant Pumpkins
Soil prep, most important factor, after testing and adjusting soil use large quantity of partially decomposed compost.
Start seeds in pots early to provide for longest growing season for your zone. Move seedling to warm outside soil and temperatures 65°F or provide mini-greenhouse.
Fertilize, first with higher phosphorus for roots, later with balanced fertilizer.
Water, fortifying with liquid fertilizer, growing pumpkins requires gallons of water.
After pumpkins start growing, limit vines to one or two. Be ready to adjust vine positions as pumpkins grow larger
Make sure pumpkins get as much sun as possible.

Next time, you should put sunblock on them or cover them up with a top.
To make them bigger without implants, you should try some peck exercises to help tone them up. That will help to lift them a bit and give the illusion of them being bigger.

Maybe you didn't feed them correctly.
To get them large, feed them lots of sugar water - they will grow HUGE.
