Stay away from both is your best bet, especially credit cards, unless you can pay it off every month. lots of people overdraw on their debit cards.

Most of the time it's 18 though

The age for debit cards is 13 and over. Credit cards can be issued from your parents account at any age or if you want one on your own you have to be 18.

I got my first debit card when I was 16 you need to have a bank checking account. And credit cards you have to be 18 and over. But my dad got me one on my 17th birthday.

Debit is thirteen, credit is eighteen. American Express and Visa both make gift cards and you get use them at any age.

I'm in Ireland so this may not help but her goes over here you have to 18. This is when they decide that you know right from wrong & can control yourself. Although in my opinion some 40 year olds I know are not responsible enough to own one

you can get one whenever you just have to have it under your parents name
