Most programs are made for windows only and I'm more familiar with the operating system.

It depends on what you are planning to do with it. I myself have a Mac, and it is awesome for music and video and pictures. It's fairly user friendly and it only took me a day of playing around with it to figure out how to do everything. [I LOVE my iBook]
But if you're looking to play computer games, and aren't too computer literate, I'd stay with a PC. While the graphics cards tend to be sweeter with Macs, PC's are more computer game friendly, and they don't make many games for Macs, although you CAN find them if you know where to look.
You really need to check them both out and compare the stats. And if you've never used a Mac, go to a Mac Store and play around with one to make sure you like it. :)
Also, it's easy to get Windows/Microsoft Office on Macs now too.

Macs are great, but if you want to be supported go with a pc. Macs are very hard to get any technical help with, you have to talk to the mac people. No other software or internet site, employment agenices will support it if you should have an issue with access, or other problem.

Get a mac! they are really great, easy to use and look really good. Also in macs, it is virtually impossible to get viruses on them which is great if u have limewire (which gives u viruses). You also get loaaddsss of space on them so u can have loads of documents and stuff. There is also this thing called photoshop which is really great! get a mac !!! Oh yer and i think there is an offer that u get a free ipod nano or something like that when u buy one from the apple store!

PC, higher compatibility rate and common platform. Mac are more user friendly but very proprietary on their design.

iMacs beat the pants off any pc. They're made so much better, and the Apple OS-X system is practically virus free. Sure they're expensive, but well worth the cost.
