U can look online for answers to that. Nothing is perfect but a proxy would help. Also, it would be good to get software that erases your online activity. Window washer, tracks eraser and so forth.
Firewalls are also good. Some are better than others and u can go to www.downloads.com for ratings on the type of software u want to
try. It may sound elementary to u because I dont know how much u know about computers.

Don't waste your time trying to spoof your IP. Your ISP won't allow outbound traffic using what appears to be an IP address from another Autonomous System.

There are anonymous proxies on the net that will do that for you. One of the best known is Anonymizer at http://www.anonymizer.com/

Keep in mind that their mission is to protect you from dangerous sites and crackers. If they determine that you are doing something illegal, they WILL cooperate with law enforcement to shut you down! They do log all traffic and will turn the logs over if subpoenaed.

There are others out there who claim to offer true anonymity, but virtually all of them will cave in to a subpoena. The few that don't keep any logs at all should be viewed with extreme suspicion as they often have an ulterior motive; many of them host spyware and other messy crap. They also tend to get knocked off line fairly often.

it's not illegal to spoof your IP. You can be traced no matter what you do, you just make it hard on others to find you.
