Depends on what size boat you are after and how much you want to invest in getting a good buy. If you know little about boat construction or the materials used then hire yourself a marine surveyor (can be pricey, look in yellow pages) who will give you the lowdown on the boats condition. Prices for the sort of boat you are after can be found through boat brokers (internet) or boating Mags.
Good luck with your new boat !!!!!

nowhere with absolute certainty. getting ripped off is only up to you. your best insurance is a couple of friends who know boats. a boat can be a dream come true or a night-mare.
