I would suggest that you need to start organizing and then burning your songs and videos. The more downloads you have, especially movies, the quicker your hard drive fills up, and in turn your computer begins to run slow/lag.
Simply take a few minutes and start organizing your tunes and movies, have your cd-r's/cd-rw's handy, and you are set to go.
Hope this helps and have fun!

Only if you are close to filling up your hard disk. Or if you have downloaded and then deleted a lot as well.
If you are running Windows, you can run some simple tools to check if either of these scenarios has occurred.
To run these tools,
1) right-click the start button, choose "Explore"
2) when Windows Explorer appears, right-click your C Disk, choose "properties"
You should see a display showing how much room you have on your disk. You need about 15% free. If you don't have that much free, click "disk clean up". This takes a long time but will make your PC faster.
Next, click the tab "Tools" (on the same screen) and choose "Defragment Now". This will be useful if you have deleted a lot of files. When the Disk Defragmenter appears, click "Analyze". If you need to defrag your disk, it will tell you. Again, this takes a long time but will make your PC faster.

Given that a lot of the stuff on the P2P networks is infested with spyware and viruses it's entirely possible that you have picked up something nasty that is slowing your system down.
Also, depending upon how much stuff you have on your hard drive, you may be nearly full. This will definitely slow your system down as it doesn't leave much free space for the swapfile or temporary files.

in line with possibility your broadband velocity isn't quickly sufficient to play the video clips. web content like youtube decide on atleast a million.5 mbps of velocity to play with none combating (i.e buffering ) . additionally in case you opt to play HD video clips , you decide on much greater velocity . in case you cant improve your velocity , the main suitable ingredient is to pause your vidoeo for it sluggish and then start up enjoying . by utilising the time you watch the finished video , that's going to be downloaded and you will watch it without stoppng .

yes because with more data on your hard disk, your computer has to look at each one before finding what you need; works the same if you save something...
if I remember correctly, you're suppose to keep at least 5% of your hard disk blank.

antivirus, anti-spyware, start-up programs, slows the computer
files, programs, etc... fragments the disk, that's why you need to defragment the HDD.
