Okay enough telling you, time to SHOW you.

6(2x+y) + 2(x+9)
**First you have to get it out of ( ) form. Use the disturbitive property.**
1) Mulitply 6*2x = 12x
2) Multiply 6*y = 6y
3) Multiply 2*x = 2x
4) Multiply 2*9= 18

So you have 12x+6y + 2x +18
You have 2 x-variables. Put the x's together (combine like terms).

14x+6y+18

Some teachers want it in SIMPILEST form. This is for Algebra mainly, I don't think pre-alg requires but just in case.

You can take 2 out of each of those variables.
So...
2(7x+6y+9) you don't know what x and y are, so this is as LOW as you can go.

There you go ^_^ not only did I catch your fish but I'm teaching you how to fish so you can eat forever!

I have already tried to explain a few of these problems for you, so hopefully you are actually reading these to try to understand.

Again, this problem uses the distributive property.

6(2x + y)
6 * 2x = 12x
6 * y = 6y
12x + 6y

2(x + 9)
2 * x = 2x
2 * 9 = 18
2x + 18

12x + 6y + 2x + 18 which equals out to be
14x + 6y + 18

6(2x+y) + 2(x+9)

12x + 6y + 2x + 18

14X + 6y + 18 = 0

Multiply what's outside the parentheses by what's in them and then add like values (e.g., 12x and 2x).

Have a great day!

you have to take it in steps. First multiply out.

(12x + 6y) + (2x + 18)

then combine like terms.

14x + 6y + 18

I hope that helps! You can use that method to simplify all problems of this kind.

well suppose x=1 and y=1, now first of all multiply 2 with 1, u get 2, add 1, 6(2x1+1)+2(1+9)= 38
