Here is a web site that has lots of pictures of caterpillars and identifies what type of butterfly or moth it is. Look at all the links and you should be able to find out what your little friend will turn into.

I agree with some of the others, it certainly sounds like a moth.
They are usually brownish in colour, and have beautiful markings on their wings..
On the other hand, does it have LONG legs, I hate to have to tell you this, but spiders come in furry as well VBG

Probably a moth. They are more of a night creature.

uh ... furry? does it already have wings? if it's gray and has wings then it's a moth. if it doesnt have wings then it's prolly a caterpillar.
