my four wheel drive is not working

there is a heater on front diferential --heat engages it they are well known for going out -if its a later model could be a transfer case switch

well this is a fun one, is the fronmt axle not engauging because there is a actuator in the front axle the controls front axle engaugement and they go bad...........often

is it a manual 4 wheel drive or a shift on the fly ???
