I know it will be an uphill battle, the government won't help and i know people need to use gas for there lives but it doesn't mean there's nothing we can do, perhaps something like discovering and boycotting only the biggest rip off company till it is so financially hurt that it stops ripping people off and then boycott the next biggest rip off company etc. till they all behave themselves and they all fall in line simplely from it being more profitable to do so.

how exactly are they "ripping off the country"? it's not only legal it's a requirement that they make as much profit for their shareholders as possible, you know. economics 101.

Guess you cannot just blame the oil companies they are in the business to make money, but have to understand why the heck did we elect oil barons to run the country. Whenever there is pointless news about Iran or about any middle eastern country, the only people affected by it is US consumers /drivers btw you are not just payin high price at the pump if gas prices go up the inflation also do go up.

really the oil companies make 7 to 9 % profit on their products the higher the price the more profit. other companies like electric (12%) water (19%) and walmart (45% or more). retail stores (100%). what do we do? we need to explore OUR oil like off the coast of FLA. and open Alaska for drilling. the liberals have hurt us by stopping our oil supplies. we haven't built a refinery in 50 years. think about that we should have one in every other state.

yeah we can ofcourse do something about the situation. using more and more alt energy is 1 way. also, though it may sound impractical,we can use more of public transport--more the vehicles on road, more is the demand for oil. oil should be used only where needed. avoid using it.
environment is a serious issue. we should correct the issue bfore it gets out of hand.

Do you realize that 1/3 of the price you pay for gasoline is taxes?

The oil companies didn't put a gun to your head and force you to buy that SUV. They didn't force you to buy the house that leaves you a 45 minute commute to your job. Quit your pointless whining. If you don't like the price they charge for their product then don't buy it.

The price for one gallon of coke is more expensive than a gallon of oil. What sort of rationality is behind this?
