i love this girl. she has a boyfriend now. she asked me if i had feelings for her and i lied. why would i do that?

Because you have character.
Because you have knowledge that she has a boyfriend, out of respect to the other fellow, you bowed out. That is the right thing to do.
She's fishing.
And she was setting the bait, and you did not take her line.
She's still too immature to settle for one guy. Move on. There's a gal out there right now being "groomed" for you; just be patient, and she will step into your life and you'll forget about all of the former loves who failed to reciprocate your feelings properly.

There are only two reasons why she would ask you if you had feelings for her:
1. She has feelings for you
2. You are acting weird around her in an obvious way to make her think you are in love with her. Some people cannot hide their feelings at all and you may be one of them.

well honestly you probably felt stupid because you say you really love this girl and it sound like to me you lied because she has a boyfriend and she would probably say i have a boyfriend now or she could have easily told you she don't love you back

Sometimes love endures a lot of things: a girlfriend/boyfriend being one of them. Be patient, but don't be stupid. don't do anything that her boyfriend should be doing because you don't want her to take advantage of that... slow and steady wins the race.
