Ok here's the deal - he hasn't paid support in 12 years. Yes, I said 12 years. I recently took him to court (mediation) where he claimed to ONLY be making $25K a year. The real kick is that he owns his own business. So while he's out driving a $60K truck. I'm stuck driving a $500 beater car because I just can't afford car payments and support our son. How fair is that. I know he's lieing I just have to find a way to proove it. We have to go back to court to appear in front of a judge in October so I want to have this information together before I go. Any viable suggestions would be great.

You can report him to the Friend of the Court (or whatever department handles child support in your state). They probably won't do anything. My ex lied about his income and has not paid since January. All they did was send him a notice saying that he was going to be charged arrearage. Since he lied about his income in the first place, he only pays $61 a month to begin with, so even with 7 months of arrearage, he's only like $400 behind. The states do not care about making deadbeats take care of their children unless the state is providing for the child in the form of welfare.

Take him from being a "dead-beat dad" to a "non-existant dad" and write him off. Since he has no interest in being a man of character, move on in your life. Instead, introduce men of character and substance in your children's lives - through your Church, neighborhood, friends, family or family extensions.

All that this dead-beat does is show a very poor example of what a male is in the family unit. So what if he lies? He has to answer to God for that, it's not your responsibility to prove or disprove. He has to live with his deception and has to live with himself.

Of course, you can always hire a detective, but what do you gain? He's thrown in jail (can't pay), or he coughs up what he owes ( & begins to harbor hatred and resentment toward the mother and/or the kids). It's not worth the aggrivation.

Get the bum out of your life. Move on. Learn to live again.

How do you know? Can you prove it? If you got a private investigator,
do you think he or she might be able to dig up information proving that
he is hiding income?

If so, report him. Offer your proof.

Your lawyer will probably move to have his wages attached and
try to get retroactive payments.

However, courts really do not like it when people use them to harass
their ex-s. If you can't prove it, you may end up paying court costs
and perhaps even pay for libel damages.

Be sure before you go to court.

Depending on the state law that you live in, and believe me they vary state by state. You can subpoena income tax records of the dead beat dad once you summons him to court.
Trust me you don’t want to lie to IRS they are not the one's to be messed with. I am a divorced father with two great girls that live with their mother. I settled out of court and keep my payments on weekly basis.

Report his azz to CHILD SUPPORT, keep calling till you get results....if this means daily then do so, they will get tired of you calling and will investigate the matter..... If there is a child support order IN EFFECT, then call his HUMAN RESOURCE dept, schedule a appt, go in with a copy of the order and the payments shall start to arrive......

I go through our states Child Support Division. They have access to all kinds of nifty information that I couldn't get on my own...plus they can garnish his wages wherever he works....unless he is working under the table. In that case, there is not too much one can do.

the courts don't rely on a dads honesty about income anymore, they have a system to access to discover his true wages.
kinda took the guesswork out of lying, he has to show a check stub when an IDO (income deduction order) is "recommended"
