Depending on the type of internet connection that you are trying to get, there are a few options for you.

Netzero has free dial up internet, the only catch is that it's a limited number of hours per month. If you want unlimited dial up internet, it's 9.99/month. I had this service for quite some time, and if you aren't downloading or uploading anything, the speed of loading pages, is pretty darn good for dial up. But if you want to download or upload anything....expect frustrations.

Verizon has DSL with Yahoo! for 14.95/month (and after a year, I think the price jumps to 19.95)

There are a few broadband carriers that will give broadband for cheap, but you have to search and it depends on where you are and what's available in your area.

the problem with cheap internet service is they won't bother helping you when things go wrong.

be smart and use a local internet service provider. they are worth the extra money. i bet at&t or earthlink won't come to your home if you are having problems.
