I guess it depends on how much you appreciate what it is. If that is the case that you don't want it anymore than you really didn't need it or want it anyway......

Reader asks, "Do you think the following sentence is true? Once you get what you want, you don't want it anymore.

superbooks.org answers:

1. That can be true and false at the very same time and here is the explanation:

1. If you get 'what you want' and then you don't want it anymore, all that means is that you honestly didn't really want that thing to begin with. OR , you thought you wanted it but when you got it you began to notice all the flaws and problems of having that thing. So, thus you didn't want it because it simply really wasn't what you wanted in the first place.

2. Once you get what you want , you don't have to want it anymore because you already have it. You just keep it and then don t need to want it . For example, if you wanted a baseball, then you get the baseball, then you simply play ball and there's no "i want a baseball" anymore.

Besides, are you just receiving something that you wanted ? Is this why you are asking this question?

I suggest that once you get it , whatever it is, that you just hold on to it a while because you need to be really sure that you don't want it , after wanting it for such a long time. Perhaps you can use it for a different purpose than your original intended purpose.

For example, as a child you might have wanted a little red wagon, and perhaps you are grown now and have no need for a little red wagon. So don't discard that little wagon. Take the wagon and fill it with books and keep it in your living room as a book holder or as a flower holder or as some decoration in any room.

So, see you can get what you want and then not want it anymore.

So the answer is yes, and the answer is no?

Are you sure that you really wanted the answer to this question?

So , now you have it.

Peace.

This is connected to the an emotion, like Happiness is the emotion that eveyone wants, yet wont except. We as a society will want our lives to be better yet we will never know what will fill our hunger (that is where some Bible Beater will say something about Jesus and what not). But it is almost a psychological pull for us to want things and while we want them, we make it sound more and more important and once we get them...they aren't.

Hope it helpped!

TRUE. Unfortunately we are a NOW society, a gimme society and a throw away society. I also think it's not just the "once you get what you want" but I think today people can't have what they want, so it becomes more a matter of what they settle for and then don't want that anymore because they don't think it's good enough..

Interesting. I think there's some truth in it. Like a spoiled child, huh? I think it depends on what you want, but when it comes to a person, the most interesting stage of getting them is the "flirting and conquering" part, once you pass that, it becomes a little boring. But if I really like the person, then I keep her.

No. I think that if you've had to fight for it, that makes it all the more worth it. Then again, when you get it, you have the choice and power to do as you wish of it. You can still want it, but mayeb for a different purpose. You can want others to share it, you may want to pass it on. It now belongs to you though, so you no longer have to worry about wanting it especially if it's something you want so much it hurts; something you yearn for.

on one linguistic level, it is true. once you have it, you remove the "want" (that is, the lack of it). You can't want something that you already have. But on a more casual level, it need not be true. Having as a removal of want only fits into the "it's not the kill...it's the thrill of the chase" mentality. I don't think that that is always true.
