I'm afraid not - I think it would be inappropriate to give someone so young such an expensive piece of equipment. Even if you got a good deal on it, a child of that age does not need a sophisticated camera. Explain gently but firmly that this is Daddy's camera, she can use it when she's older and eventually have her own, but for the time being the cheaper camera is good enough. There is a risk of spoiling her if you get her a digital camera; next it will be a mobile phone or something else that looks good but she doesn't really need.

I think that is a good idea. And now they are getting cheaper and cheaper, so you wouldn't have to worry about spending a lot of money, and maybe it breaking. Here's a really good camera at Target for only $59.99. It has an LCD screen and everything. I hope I helped you out! :)

Well my neighbor is 7 and has a digital camara..she knows the responsibilties adn it stays on the counter near the kitchen, so it doesnt get lost. And she can take her own pictures, but knows she cant like take it to skool and stuff. So yea...it would be okay, just as long as she knows about the responsibilties, adn make sure u can keep it where u can see it...so she doesnt lose it. Good Luck!

I wouldn't get her an expensive one, but you can find some that are cheap but work well enough for a six year old to use.

Shes far too young to be playing with a camera. Who cares if she is upset, youre the parent here, not her.

no i would just give her a 35mm , there is no reason to give her such an expensive gift even though she is going to be upset you have to establish your role as an authority figure and let her know that its not OK
